Also included is the original wood cutter box and cardboard lid, although they have some condition issues. The box and lid have the blue finish as can be seen, and the lid is not marked Stanley or with any brand name. The blue color would indicate that these cutters were originally part of a Wards Master plane that was made for them by Stanley. The cutters are clearly Stanley cutters, with the Stanley notch in the upper corner and with Stanley part numbers on every cutter except for the 1/8 dado where there isn’t room for the number. These will not work properly on a Sargent plane, as Sargent uses a different pattern of notches. 7 bead or beading cutters, marked with part numbers 21 through 27. Sizes are 1/8″ through 1/2″ by 16ths. 2 match cutters. One is marked “6” which is the 3/16″ cutter, and the other is marked “5” which is the 1/4″ cutter. Both of these have their depth stops. 1 sash cutter marked “1”. It also has its depth stop. 11 dado or plow cutters. Ten are marked with part numbers, which are 11 through 19, plus one faintly marked “18 1/2″. The 1/8 cutter is not marked as expected. Sizes are 1/8″ through 1/2″ by 16ths, 5/8″, 3/4″, 13/16″ (the 18 1/2), and 7/8″. The box lid actually shows 23 cutters. I don’t have the #9 filletster cutter and I don’t have the #8 slitter with this set. Condition of the cutters is very good to excellent, mostly bright and shiny with a variety of scratches, and just a hint of patina (color) here or there. The 1/8″ dado doesn’t have the little hole at the top, and the 7/8″ dado is a bit rough along one edge. The wood cutter box is also in very good to excellent condition. The cardboard lid is in poor to fair condition, showing lots of wear and with some clear tape holding one end together which I tried to show in the 8th picture. One set of 22 cutters for a Stanley 45 wood plane as pictured. Also included are the 2 cutter boxes and the 2 lids, although they have some condition issues. The boxes are not numbered. Each is about 6-9/16″ by 4-1/2″ including the lids. These would date to 1915 to 1921 only per Dave Heckel’s excellent book The Stanley Forty-Five Combination Plane. One of the cutter boxes has pictured 7 beading cutters, 1 match cutter, and 1 sash cutter. All of those cutters are included. The depth stops are included on the match and sash cutters. The other cutter box has pictured 10 dado or plow cutters and the filletster. This set predates the #18-1/2 cutter which is not included. None of the cutters are numbered. Condition of the cutters is very good to excellent, mostly bright and shiny with just a hint of patina (color) or dirt here or there. Many have had a bit of flattening from a prior owner. Both cutter boxes are in fair to good condition, both. Dirty but with the majority of the labels intact. These don’t have any provision for attaching the lids to the rest of the boxes. The winner gets all 20 cutters and both boxes and lids! I sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! One set of five Record fluting cutters as pictured. These were intended to be used on a Record 405 wood plane, and they also will fit and function on a Stanley 45 wood plane. These are among the optional cutters for the 405, and are not included with the standard set of cutters. Widths are 3/16″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 5/8″, and 3/4. Overall lengths vary between 3-1/2″ and 3-9/16″. The 3/16″ is marked “RECORD”, the 3/8″ is marked “RECORD 3/8 9-5 MM”, and the 3 widest are m. RECORD MADE IN ENGLAND. There are 3 more sizes of fluting cutters that were available from Record, which were 1/4″, 5/16″, and 7/16, but I don’t have those sizes. Condition of all five cutters is very good to excellent, except for the 3/8 which has been resharpened. All five are reasonably bright and shiny, with some scratches, and appearing to have seen very little use except for the 3/8.
