Set of 14 cutters blades irons for Siegley Union wood plow plane dado bead sash

They are unmarked, except for both depth stops are marked “PAT 84″ which is a Stanley marking. 7 dado or plow cutters, with nominal widths of 3/16″, 1/4″, 5/16″, 7/16″, 1/2″, 5/8″, and 3/4. 1 modified cutter that probably started out as a 7/8 dado or plow cutter. 4 bead cutters, with nominal cutting widths of 5/16″, 3/8″, 7/16″, and 1/2″. 1 sash cutter with the depth stop. And 1 tongue cutter with the depth stop and a nominal cutting gap of 1/4. The actual widths of the dado or plow cutters tends to be over the nominal widths. Overall length of most of the cutters is about 4-7/16″, and the shortest is the modified cutter which is about 4-5/16″ in length. That is quite a bit longer than a no-notch Stanley 45 cutter. Other than the modified cutter, condition of the cutters is generally good to very good, but a few have some pitting, with the pitting most noticeable on the 1/2″ dado, the 3/8″ and 7/16 beads, and the sash cutter. They are all reasonably clean. Some of them have some crossways scratches in the same location on the bevel side. I sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! With one exception, overall lengths vary from 4-3/16″ to 4-5/16″, making these about 5/8 longer than a Stanley 45 or 55 cutter. The 1/2″ dado cutter is the exception, and is about 4″ in length. They are unmarked, and there is no notch on the upper end. Included are, from left to right in the first picture. 7 dado or plow cutters, with widths of 3/16″, 3/8″, 7/16″, 1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″, and 7/8. 1 match cutter, which has a gap just under 1/4. 6 bead or beading cutters, with cutting widths of 1/8″ through 3/8″ by 16ths, plus 1/2. Condition is fair to good, with some patina (color) and rust, and some scattered light pitting. The 1/8 bead is slightly bowed. I sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and. Antique STANLEY No 46 Skew Cutter Combination Dado Plane SUPERB COMPLETE SET

Antique STANLEY No 46 Skew Cutter Combination Dado Plane SUPERB COMPLETE SET. Other tools of similar caliber seem to be owned by private tool collector web sites. This is a once in a lifetime find, it has sat forgotten in a wood toolbox in my great grandfather’s cluttered workroom for nearly 100 years untouched and waiting for its day in the sun! This beauty is in EXCELLENT condition and ready for use in the shop or to put on display in an antique tool collection. I think it is made from rosewood and nickel plated iron. Lightly used (if it was ever used at all). It comes with both long and short rods, and all twelve cutters, and the original box, and other small parts. As far as I can tell the nickel coating is intact, but you can judge for yourself in the many photos. The blades are very sharp, they may have never even been used. The main body almost looks like it could have been bought at a hardware store yesterday although it is about 100 years old. I would estimate the body to be considered Good+ to near Fine condition making t. His is the perfect piece for a collector or artisan. Writing on the box reads: STANLEY – One Adjustable Nickel Plated DADO, PLOW and FILLETSTER PLANE – (Skew Cutters) – 46 – Reg. STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO. NOS set of 18 cutters blades iron for Stanley 12-250 wood plane dado bead sash

On one set of 18 cutters or blades or irons for a Stanley 12-250 wood plough or plow plane as pictured. Condition is New Old Stock, meaning that they are new and unused, but that they have been sitting around for a while. Some of the beading cutters have picked up a bit of rust up in the area where they are labeled. The plastic package is intact, but these tend to tear or cut easily, and some of the pockets are dirty from dirt brought in with the cutters. The plastic package has “18 pc plane cutter set” handwritten in Sharpie on the back. Each cutter is marked with the STANLEY notched rectangle logo, with the size, and with a part number that begins with 12-3 and ends with 2 more digits that vary with the size. 12 dado cutters: 4 mm, 6 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, 1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″, 5/16″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 5/8″, and 7/8″. 1 match or tongue cutter 1/4. 5 beading cutters: 1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2. Will these cutters fit in my US made Stanley 45 you ask. I’ve seen some online opinions that say no, but I don’t believe everything I read online. The cutters listed here are each about 3-3/8 long, and about. 115 thick plus or minus a few thousandths, measured with calipers. The notches vary a bit for length (measured parallel to the length of the cutter) and vary a lot for depth (how far they are cut into the edge of the cutter). I measured a variety of cutters from a US made Stanley 45. The US cutters are of course longer, more like 3-5/8″ or 3-3/4″. The thickness varied from about. 125, with most of them closer to. I would say in general that the US cutters have shorter notches, notches that are more consistent for depth and that are in the middle of the range of depth for the British cutters, and the US notches are closer to the upper edge of the cutter. And of course the US notches are on the same side as the British notches. You can draw your own conclusions, but I got one of these British cutters to clamp up in a US made 45 with no difficulty, other than running the adjuster down lower. Worst case, you might have to modify the notch slightly. (but see below if you are in Canada). I sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! TYPE 1 STANLEY No. 47 DADO PLANE with 5 IRONS – c. From my collection the finest Stanley No. 47 I have owned. Has 98% Japanning intact with normal wear on the fence handle. Comes with 5 original irons in a user made exact replica box. All irons are nicely honed. Rosewood knob and tote are in excellent condition with zero damage or repairs. 47 tote did not have Traut’s patent stamp. No rust or pitting on this plane which has been washed and wiped with Camillia Oil since I bought it to prevent rusting. A beautiful example of the Stanley No. 47 Dado Plane for your collection..
