This is beautiful just as something to set around even if you never intend to use it. It has a gorgeous patina. Imagine all the leaves that were actually made with this. This is a really rare 3 piece set that’s complete. Makes a 2 inch by 3 1/2 inch feather plume. This is a rare one! First, there is the cutter. It’s 5 inches tall and the cutter head is almost 4 inches long and 2 3/4 inches wide. Please note that it’s not like cutting out cookies. You’ll need a heavy rubber mallet and a LOT of force The cutter is made of iron. There is also a 2 part feather mold complete with top and bottom. Top is made of bronze and the bottom I believe is made of iron. Top is 2 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches long including the wood handle. It’s 1 inch thick. The bottom is 2 1/2 by 4 inches. It’s one inch thick. When you put the top and bottom together it’s 1 1/2 inches thick. You could clean this up a bit more and have it as shiny as the day it was made if you like. I do put a light coating of beeswax on it to keep any iron parts from rusting.

There is also a 2 part leaf mold complete with top and bottom. The bottom part is made of iron and is 7 1/2 inches long including the wood handle. The top is about 2 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches across and 3/4 inch deep of solid brass. When the top veiner and bottom are put together it’s 1 1/2 inches thick. This makes a leaf with 3 distinct tips. This is quite usable and you could actually cut and form a leaf today exactly how it was done years ago. Wonderful also just for display. Has a great patina. If you wanted you could polish the brass to its original color and clean up the iron bottom. The 2 pieces together weigh just about 2 pounds so this is a substantial and serious tool.
