One set of 8 irons or blades or cutters for a Record 045C combination wood plane as pictured. This is the “B” cutter set, called “CS045B” on the plastic wrap. The “A” set had the smaller plough cutters (not included here). These appear to be NOS or New Old Stock, and never used. Each one has the lacquer coating on it that was done at the factory, and I had to work very patiently and gently to get them unstuck from the plastic holder, because the lacquer had stuck to the plastic. They appear to be identical to Record 405 cutters other than the marking on the plastic holder. All of the cutters are marked “RECORD” and with their size. All of them have the notch in the upper corner, similar to Stanley. Overall lengths are 3-9/16, plus or minus roughly a 16th. 2 plough cutters — 5/8″, and 7/8″. 5 beading cutters — 1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2. 1 tongue cutter 1/4 with its depth stop. And the plastic wrap which is marked in part “RECORD MARPLES CS045B MADE IN ENGLAND BAHCO RECORD TOOLS LTD PARKWAY WORKS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND”. Condition of the cutters is excellent, appearing to be NOS or New Old Stock, and each one still has its lacquer coating visible on the sharp edge. Condition of the plastic wrap is excellent, except that there are some remnants of the lacquer coating stuck to the plastic. It has a few creases, and I don’t see any slices in it, which is amazing. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. Please don’t ask, the answer is no. All of the cutters are either marked “RECORD” or “RECORD MADE IN ENGLAND TUNGSTEN STEEL” depending on how much room there is on the cutter for the mark. 3 quarter round cutters, with a cutting radius either 1/4″, 5/16″, or 3/8. 8 fluting cutters, with nominal widths of 3/16″ to 1/2″ by 16ths, plus 5/8″ and 3/4″. 4 reed or reeding cutters, cutting 1/8 reeds, and cutting either 2, 3, 4, or 5 reeds. 4 reed or reeding cutters, cutting 3/16 reeds, and cutting either 2, 3, 4, or 5 reeds. 4 reed or reeding cutters, cutting 1/4 reeds, and cutting either 2, 3, 4, or 5 reeds. Condition of all 23 is good to very good, except for the 4 reed 1/4 cutter, which has a broken tooth at one end. They have all been cleaned by a prior owner, so they have some fine scratches, and there are some scattered little spots of rust on some of the cutters. The Record notches and the Stanley notches interchange, so these will fit on a Stanley 45 or 55 plane. I sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! RECORD No 50 COMBINATION PLANE FULL SET OF CUTTERS, NO SIGNS OF USE MINT. Came from a workshop clearance. I dont think this has ever been used as cannot find any clear signs of use, the condition is straight out of the box with no cleaning whatsoever, however there are a couple of age related marks to the rod (see pics) and a couple of the thumb screws have a tiny amount of nickel plate loss (see pics). Ive taken pictures as it came out of the box so a knew where it all went back in! Every component is there including short rods. All major components are as new with no plate loss at all. 17 cutters included, 15 in the wallet and two wrapped in protective paper. Nice collectors piece or would look good in a display cabinet.
