Antique Stanley No 45/55 Cutter Set of Fifteen (15) including Plow & Dado (8), Beading (6) and Match Cutters (1). These are Notched And Unmarked/Unnumbered. Based upon available research, the first notched cutters were introduced in 1896 which was also the advent of the first numbered cutters produced by Stanley. However, not all cutters were numbered until sometime in the mid-1920’s. Based on this information, these cutters were most likely produced during the late 1890’s to mid-1920’s, making them a great find for the antique Stanley tool collector. This set also includes a No 18 (3/4) Plow & Dado Cutter which was not normally included in cutter sets before 1920, and the No. 18-1/2 (13/16) which was normally included. Also included is the Original Wooden Cutter Case with its original leather strap. The wooden box adds to the charm and authenticity of this unique piece of history. Case measures 12″ x 6″ x 3/4 and has cut-out for Sash or Match cutter. Case is fastened together with clenched nails. This Case housing these notched and unmarked/unnumbered cutters, indicates that it may date from the late 1890’s.
